Tally Ho Set

Adam's Tally Ho Set

The Adam's Tally Ho sets were patented toys marketed by Gamages of London circa 1913.

They were known to have been made in sets of two or four horses, mounted on wheels, which could be pushed along by a young "driver" as an educational toy for driving teams of horses.

This set comprises the horses mounted on an iron frame. Sadly missing are the wheels and the driving pole and associated waistband and tack.

This item is an ideal restoration project for someone interested in such historical toys.

Edward Adams was a jockey in the Edwardian period who took out a patent for a unique training aide to teach children about driving horse drawn carts and carriages through play. His design was produced either with a pair or even a set of four horses and was registered as a patent (No 14,513) in 1911.
This item appeared in both Gamages and Lines catalogues immediately before World War One.
