Armstrong Rocking Horse

Ian Armstrong rocking horse.

Sagittarius is an early example of an Ian Armstrong rocking horse. It's features are very similar to later models, except for much heavier legs and side rails. The rocking iron brackets are in rough cast brass and it bears the makers name plate on the side rail, with an address in Hutton Le Hole, as opposed to the business unit for later models.

Condition is very good for a rocking horse of 34 years, being in full working order.

Ian Armstrong was a maker of distinctive laminate construction rocking horses in Durham between approx 1980 and 2000. He was innovative in using the patterning of the lamina in plywood to produce a distinctive patterned plywood rocking horse, which along with his turning the side rails into a mock bow shape, produced a distinctive rocking horse.

Finish was good and these robust rocking horses seem to have generally weathered well.
