Rocking horse by Swallow Toys, circa 1930-50. This fully restored rocking horse was made by G Woodrow and Co, who traded as Swallow Toys in the 1930s. There are close similarities to Lines, as indeed G Woodrow and Co was formed out of some of the remnants of the original G&J Lines company. Ben has been completely repainted, so the paintwork is in excellent condition. He also has new quality leather tack, including a fixed saddle and fixed bridle. A natural horse hair mane and tail in silver grey completes the outfitting of a very nice little collectable rocking horse.
The stand is original as far as we can ascertain, painted black, it is sound and in full working order. The brackets are Lines three pin pattern, the underside in this instance is stamped with a “W” and a number “1”.

George Woodrow established a substantive business making rocking horses and other toys out of the remnants of the old company G&J Lines in 1931.
He traded as Swallow Toys. He was a former director of G&J Lines and many of his workers were former employees, hence there is a close resemblance to the former Lines products.
