Gilda is simply a stunning sympathetically restored extra carved rocking horse by G and J Lines
Dating to circa 1910, Gilda is in excellent condition with a blonde mane and tail, leather fixed saddle and bridle and brushed leather saddlecloth. Pillars are replacement, as are the brackets, which are in brass.
Lines rocking horses were an old established firm of rocking horse makers in Victorian London. Started by brothers George and Joseph Lines, it eventually had a network of workshops making rocking horses and toys in London.
Post great war, it declined, eventually absorbed by the proprietor's sons, Lines Brothers, in the 1930s, with another offshoot being Swallow Toys.
