Vintage Toy Horse

A Lines fabric covered push along horse made in Ireland circa 1950.

This is a mohair fabric covered push along toy horse dating to the 1950s. It is in original condition, though showing some wear and tear for it's age, mainly some wear on the mohair covering on the seating area and mane.

He features a red plastic bridle and harness style tack (no saddle), with small blue rossettes and glass eyes. The horse is covered in a cotton fabric with mohair and filled with wood wool. The mild steel frame is painted red, apart from the chromed handle bar, which has a white plastic cover on the top. Wheels are steel with rubber tyres and there are two wooden foot rests for the young rider.

All in full working order, apart from wear to the fabric.

Lines Bros, later Triang, were formed after the Great War by the sons of George Lines (Of the Lines company). They were very successful, investing in new factories and production lines to eventually become the largest toy maker in the world circa 1950s. This toy making empire included building factories overseas, and in this case the Republic of Ireland.
