German made Shoo fly horse.

Often referred to as shoo fly rocking horses, or board horses, these toys were made in Germany and exported, especially to America prior to 1914. They are very basic rocking horses, and presumably shipped as flat packs. The painting however was very good and adds a lot to their visual appeal.
This fine example is cut in the shape of, and painted as a horse. (Other animals were quite common.) The boards have recessed slots to hold the seat battens, which are furthermore held by three small bolts on metal brackets each side to keep them in. It is therefore easily dismantled for shipping.
Condition shows some wear and tear to the paintwork as one would expect for a 100 year old item used as a toy, but is otherwise in sound condition.
