Hobby horses have a long history going back to Victorian times, a simple toy involving a horse’s head on a stick with wheels. They are still popular and the renowned toy makers, Merrythought of Ironbridge, Shropshire, made a selection of quality hobby horses alongside their famous teddy bear range. Their products are all hand made in the UK and renowned for quality.
Although no longer available, Merrythought hobby horses were well made and durable. Merry is in excellent condition, with only very minor wear to it’s varnish. This hobby horse has the maker’s mark imprinted on the top as well as their tag sewn into the head.
